Free game databases
ChessRoller opens PGN, ChessBase and SCID files, so you can bring in any of these free collections. Download one, extract it if it's compressed, then open it with File → Open.
-
Lumbra's Gigabase
Over 10 million over-the-board games and 7 million online games, updated monthly. The SCID version opens directly; PGN downloads are 7z archives.
-
Ajedrez Data
4 million over-the-board and 1.5 million correspondence games, available as PGN, ChessBase or SCID (7z archives). Last updated August 2024.
-
The Week in Chess
Each week's top-level games since 1994, as PGN or ChessBase. ChessRoller can sync new issues for you, so there's nothing to download by hand.
-
Lichess open database
Every rated game played on Lichess, plus broadcasts of top over-the-board events, as .pgn.zst files (PeaZip extracts them). ChessRoller can sync the broadcasts directly, along with your own Lichess or Chess.com games.

Add a source under Settings → Sources, and new games sync into your database automatically.
These collections are maintained by their authors, not by ChessRoller.
